Laura Currie began attending yoga classes in 1998. She started taking Yoga Teacher Trainings in 2000 and taught yoga from that time until the pandemic hit last March. Laura created the first English Through Yoga class at an ILSC school in 2005, and she’s excited to offer this workshop, especially during this challenging time. 1. Health discussion (Are physical and mental health connected?) 2. Stress during Normal times vs. Stress during Covid (vocabulary: feeling and reacting) 3. Breathing: Is it as simple as it seems? (Breathing sphere exercise) What do you notice? The art of awareness and paying attention. 4. Anatomy and movement vocabulary (Simon Says – not just for kids!) 5. Why do yoga? Why you shouldn’t doBenefits and 6. Let’s do yoga (a zoom yoga class) Recommended gear: a mat or blanket, belt or strap, firm and thick cushion to sit on or kitchen-type chair. Students who have scoliosis should not take this workshop
