All students can see:

• Overall Attendance – For non-student visa students, this shows your attendance from the beginning of your studies up to the current session.
• Current Class Attendance – This shows your attendance for each class, such as Core or Elective, during the current session.

If you are studying on a student visa, you will also see:

• Maximum Potential Attendance – This shows the highest attendance percentage you can still achieve by the end of your current CoE if you attend all your remaining classes on time.

For student visa holders who have more than one CoE, attendance is monitored for each CoE.

Maximum Potential Attendance looks ahead and shows the highest attendance percentage you can still achieve by the end of your current CoE if you attend all remaining classes on time.

Maximum Potential Attendance is only shown in CONNECT to students studying on a student visa.

Other students can still see their Overall Attendance and Current Class Attendance.

All students should aim to maintain at least 80% attendance.

If your attendance falls below 80%, you may not be eligible to receive your graduation certificate.

If you are studying on a student visa, there may also be additional attendance and visa-related consequences.

Student visa holders only

If your Maximum Potential Attendance falls below 80%, it means that even if you attend all your remaining classes, you can no longer finish your current CoE with 80% attendance.

You may receive an Intention to Report (ITR) and may be at risk of being reported for unsatisfactory attendance.

If you are concerned about your Maximum Potential Attendance, contact Student Services as early as possible.

Student visa holders only

The answer depends on your current attendance, your CoE dates, and how many scheduled classes you have remaining.

A medical certificate does not remove any absence from your attendance record.

However, it may be used as supporting evidence if you need to appeal an attendance decision.

No. You are not marked absent during an approved holiday.

However, if a holiday is added during a session, your Current Class Attendance may change because the number of classes included in that session is recalculated.

This does not mean you are being marked absent while on holiday.

Current Class Attendance only looks at the number of classes scheduled during the current session.

If there are only a small number of classes in the session, missing even one or two classes can have a noticeable impact on the percentage.

Current Class Attendance is separate from your Overall Attendance and resets with the new session.

Maximum Potential Attendance is calculated using the start and end dates of your current CoE.

If your CoE covers a short study period, even a small number of absences, lateness or time out of class can have a significant impact on your Maximum Potential Attendance.

First, check which attendance figure you are looking at:

• Overall Attendance
• Current Class Attendance
• Maximum Potential Attendance (if you are on a student visa)

If you still believe something is incorrect, contact Student Services through Live Chat in CONNECT and explain which attendance figure you are concerned about.

Corrections may take some time to sync and appear in CONNECT.

Please check CONNECT again after 5:00 pm.

If the correction still does not appear, contact Student Services through Live Chat and provide the date of the attendance correction.

If you attended the full class but were marked absent, speak with your teacher immediately and ask them to review the attendance record.

If an error was made, your teacher can correct it. However, they cannot remove genuine absences.

Your teacher can correct an attendance record if it was entered incorrectly.

They cannot remove a genuine absence simply to increase your attendance percentage.

Read the email carefully and follow the instructions.

• The first attendance warning is sent at or below 90%.
• The second attendance warning is sent at or below 85%.
• If your attendance falls below 80%, you may receive an ITR (Intention to Report).

If you receive a second warning, contact Student Services for advice.

Student visa holders only

An Intention to Report (ITR) is a formal notification to let you know that you may be reported for unsatisfactory attendance.

If you receive an ITR, read the letter carefully. It will explain what you need to do and how to submit an appeal if you wish to do so.

You can provide relevant supporting evidence as part of your appeal.
